Ecopark
The Eastern Ecopark covers an area of 381 hectares. It is an extraordinary place due to its location (on one side surrounded by the sea, and on the other by the waters of peat bogs and marshes), stunning landscapes, lush and beautiful vegetation, and unusual animal species. This place aims to protect the unique habitats of plants and animals from the saline peat bog ecosystem. "Solne Bagno" – a basin of saline peat bogs – is the main feature of this ecological site, as this area is listed as an Important Bird Area in the European network of protected areas. Around 80 different bird species can be found here, such as: the common eagle, the laughing gull, the meadow cress, the rusty-red orchid, the marsh willowherb, Gerard's bulrush, the greater bullrush, the marsh cinquefoil, the western diving beetle, and the white orchid. The Ecopark is also a feeding ground for wading birds and shorebirds, which are protected by the European Union. Here, mute swans build their nests. It is also a refuge for tailless amphibians (animals resembling frogs), which find suitable breeding grounds in this area.
